GENE KELLY – MOCASSINO – MEN’S LOAFERS
Did you know that Gene Kelly himself wore loafers and danced in them all the time? And indeed our new Penny Loafers are made for dancing and walking!
Back in the 1930s, the pay phone in the phone booth cost two cents. The new loafer design allowed just enough space for a penny in each shoe, exactly the cost of an emergency phone call.
The first loafers appear in 1936, and soon these slip on comfy shoes became the favourite of the casual teenagers who in those years started dancing Balboa and Bal-Swing. That’s why Penny Loafers have a special place in the heart of the Bal scene, and nowadays swing dance instructors like Mickey Fortanasce and Andreas Olsson highly recommend them
